Happy Holidays!!
Club News
Champs Sports Bowl Game Watching Party: Join other club members at the Bynum's on December 27th at 4pm to watch the 'Noles take on Wisconsin. Ann and Matt have graciously offered up their home to the club again this year. They have a large theatre in the basement that makes you feel like you are part of the game and is as close to a front-row seat experience that you can have without actually being at there. [directions] This event will also serve as our Holiday Party this year. We will have the NOLE gift exchange -- basically a yankee gift exchange where FSU gifts are encouraged. If you want to participate, please limit the value of the gift to no more than $20.
Also - due to this being after Christmas, our annual Toys for Tots campaign has been replaced with the Salvation Army's Winter Blanket/Coat drive. If you have any older coats/blankets that you no longer use, please consider donating them to this worthy cause.
If you are planning on coming out, please RSVP to Diane ( DianeErvin@charter.net ) by Dec 22nd. This event will be catered so it is important that we get an accurate count of those planning on attending. All you have to do is bring your post-holiday cheer and any adult beverages that you might want to enjoy / share.
For those of you lucky enough to be attending the game, you might find the following links helpful in your planning the weekend festivities: Champs Sports Bowl Information FSU license plate: A fellow Seminole Fan sent us an email to gauge interest in campaigning for a SC FSU plate. We thought that we could start with our club and if there was a positive response we would expand to the other SC clubs and then work on getting the university involved to try to reach all the folks that don't get regular updates thru the Seminole Club network. After reading the documents from the DMV, it would appear that in addition to filling out the proper forms and getting a design approved, we would need to secure either 400 people that are committed to getting a custom license plate or raise $4000.00 to cover the cost of an initial run. I believe that with almost 1000 FSU fans in our coverage area, we should be able to generate quite a bit of interest. An added benefit is that we could work with the state to create a scholarship fund for any SC resident that attends FSU. I don't believe that this would be something that our club manages (we have our own scholarship) but it would be a selling point towards adoption.
